Valentine Podiatry Services
Podiatry involves the diagnosis and management of disorders of the lower limb. Commonly this involves the following key areas-
A general treatment is focused on nail and skin care. A treatment can involve simply trimming toe nails, or may include removing an ingrowning nails, or debriding corns and hard skin. We’ll also take time to examine the blood flow and sensation within the feet.
If you experience pain in your feet or legs, the first step towards recovery is an accurate diagnosis. We’ll take time establish the problem and the causative factors. Sometimes an ultrasound or x-ray may be needed.
Once a diagnosis is made, treatment can be provided through a number of methods such as exercise therapy, massage, orthotics, footwear, or even changing the way you walk or run.
Ingrowing Toe Nails
Most ingrowing toe nails can be removed easily and without pain. With reoccurring or serious cases, a procedure can be performed under local anaesthetic to permanently fix the problem.
Diabetic Foot Care
It is recommended that diabetics receive a foot exam at least once a year. People diagnosed with diabetes are more likely to develop foot problems, because there can be a reduction in blood supply and sensation.
As children grow, it is not uncommon to experience aches and pains. We commonly seen heel pain, shin splints, and knee pain. Flat feet may also be of concern. An assessment can help to sort what’s normal from what’s not. Warts are another common reason for seeing a podiatrist.
Up to 70% of people over the age of 70 can suffer from fungal nails. We can help to identify fungal nails from other conditions, and then assist on the most appropriate treatment method.
We understand that some patients may find it difficult to travel away from their home. Home visits can be arranged, and in most instances we can perform a treatment with under a week’s notice.

Valentine Podiatry can provide services to aged-care facilities if required. Please contact the clinic to arrange a visit.
